  1. I've finally got round to learning foundation piecing and I'm loving it. I've recently spent Christmas money on two new wonderful books, Material Obsession and Material Obsession Two which have some beautiful quilts in modern fabrics, very inspirational! So I decided to try the "Gypsy Kisses" pattern, which is similar to the traditional double wedding ring pattern.

I decided to use my treasured Amy Butler prints, matching them with three plains, and two background plains. Having got 12 units out of the fabric I then worked out the best way to place them, a bit backwards I know, but I got a little carried away with the piecing! It is amazing the difference a camera pic makes, originally I was going for the green centre as below, but then tried the orange, and through the lens it sprang out at me, so I decided to be brave and go for orange.. not one of my favourite colours, but I'm glad I did!

My appliqué skills improved no end when I came to sew the units on to the white pieces, which was tricky, but I soon got the hang of it. I then wanted a strong colour to fill in the corners and chose brown which really makes the colours zing. I've sewn white sashing around the edge to hold the brown fabric steady, the triangles were cut on the bias so were unstable.

I'm now planning on hand-quilting it... which may take a while, so bare with me!
  2. Hello, and welcome to my website, its been a long time in coming, but I've finally sat down and taken some pics of my things and written the blurbs... well some of them anyway. There will be lots more to come.

The past year has been quite eventful in my crafting life – I held a craft stall at a Christmas fair in Durham last December, I sold a few things, but learnt more,

such as having the prices more visible, and that my cards go down quite well! I did sell a couple of cushions, including the one to the left, which I was very happy about. I have got a blue and white one similar to this, and I will get round to sewing it up one day!

I also sold a quilt (right) through www.folksy.com to a lovely lady wanting a present for her daughter in Sydney. It arrived safely, thank goodness, and she loved it.

I'll be working on more cards in the future, at the moment knitting is my current obsession, particularly things for babies, I seem to suddenly have plenty of friends with young children or babies on the way, so I'm being kept very busy. I bought a lovely cuddly toy book called Knitted Toy Tales and can't wait to make the gorgeous elephant and bears, watch this space.

Right, I best get on with this baby blanket before the mother-to-be pops!
