Curved EPP Applecore Cushion Pattern - Includes pre-cut papers

English paper-piecing has experienced a recent revival as more and more people have become aware of the joy and benefits of slow stitching. This pattern features my favourite technique, curved EPP which with help from a glue pen and the flat back stitch, makes this a really enjoyable project.

This printed pattern comes with pre-cut paper templates as well as a template for future use. 

In these easy-to-follow instructions, I show you how to glue-baste your shapes using the paper templates included, before sewing them together using a 'flat whip stitch'. I then explain how to finish your cushion with some gorgeous big-stitch hand quilting.

Skill level: Skilled Beginner

Finished size: Approx. 18" square

You will need;
• Eight 4” x 4½” strips in co-ordinating prints 
• One 3.5" x 22" strip in a contrasting solid or blender
• One 15.5" square of background fabric
• Two 2.5" x 44" strips in a co-ordinating print for borders
• Two 2.5" x 44" strips for binding
• Thread for piecing - I use a 50wt cotton
• Temporary fabric glue pen - which you can purchase here
• Gentle fabric starch
• Embroidery floss in a contrasting thread
• One 20" square of wadding and of butter muslin
• 50cm of backing fabric and a 20" cushion pad.
