Clamshell Flower QAYG Quilt Kit

Enjoy the hand sewing techniques of curved English paper-piecing and big-stitch hand quilting, together with quilt-as-you-go construction to make this gorgeous quilt - my full colour, easy-to-follow instructions will take you through every step.

This kit includes:

• Ten 50cm x wof (width of fabric) pieces from Makower's Meadow Walk collection
• 2.7m of background fabric in Spectrum Solids Antique White
• 75cm of Spectrum Solid in Vintage Blue (T64)
• Set of pre-cut EPP papers

You will also need:

• Temporary fabric glue pen available here
• Thread for hand-piecing – I recommend a 50wt Aurifil cotton, available here
• Optional - a set of acrylic templates, available here, to accompany this project which help with precise cutting and are also great for fussy-cutting - alternatively you can also use template plastic

• Gentle fabric starch – such as Mary Ellen’s Best Press available here
• Embroidery floss for hand-quilting your blocks - I recommend a 12wt Aurifil cotton - or you could machine quilt using the 50wt
• 10” embroidery hoop if hand quilting
• Twelve 21” squares of wadding (1.6m of 90“ wide wadding)
• If hand quilting, twelve 21” squares of butter muslin (3.5m of 54" wide muslin)
• Twelve 21” squares for backing - I used 1.1m of three co-ordinating fabrics
• 50cm x wof of fabric for the joining strips for the back

• Basic sewing kit - fine long pins, a sewing needle (I recommend Sharps, but use a size you are comfortable with), fabric scissors, an embroidery needle, a thimble (optional) and a sewing machine with a ¼“ seam foot and a walking foot.
