How to mount your completed panel into a picture frame

Once you have completed your beautiful EPP panel, you may not fancy yet another cushion or wall hanging... so why not go for a more modern look and mount your piece into a bold picture frame?! You can then mount it on the wall for all to admire, why not make a whole gallery of art work in fact! These also make wonderful gift ideas,

  1. You usually get a backing sheet with the picture frame, so draw around this onto mount board or similarly thick card and cut out.
    .

  2. Measure this mount board and add 2” to each side, so if your board is 12” x 16”, you will trim your sewn panel to be 16” wide by 20” high. When trimming the width of the sewn panel, make sure your measure outwards from the centre of your design, so in this case I have measured 8“ outwards from the centre line before cutting down both sides. If you want your panel centred in a square frame, do the same for the top and bottom. However, in this case, I am using a rectangular frame and want more background space at the bottom than the top, so I measured 3” out from the top edge of the pieced ring, using the trimmed sides as horizontal guides on my ruler to get a straight cut. Finally, I trimmed the length down to 20”.
